ABOUT STGU
STGU – The main idea
Graphic design, as one of the most important elements in the contemporary plastic arts culture, chooses the form and quality of visual communication. The main idea of the Association of Applied Graphic Designers (Stowarzyszenie Twórców Grafiki Użytkowej – STGU) is to defend the creative independency of the designers together with the rules and regulations of a reliable design.
STGU – Why?
In our country, we perceive such progressing, negative processes and phenomena related to the graphic design as: low level of plastic and visual arts culture in the society, ignorance and unawareness concerning the basic rules of creating and applying professional graphic design and the lack of prestige for the graphic artists. Luckily, we are witnessing many valuable projects, actions and also positive attitude towards the rising of graphic culture’s faint level. They all need support and help – We want to provide it.
STGU – What for?
It’s because we wish to contribute in creating an active environment, which will form a common ground for exchanging thoughts and experience and representing views and conceptions over graphic design. The environment will enable the integration of graphic artists, critics and historians professionally working in graphic design and also create favorable conditions for learning and our professional development.
STGU – how does it work?
EXHIBITION – we organize thematic and surveying exhibitions concentrated on graphic design.
EDUCATION – we present lectures, workshops and courses concerning significant aspects of professional activity and graphic artist-designer’s workshop (i.e. graphic design, copyright, typography/printing technology, modern DTP technology)
INFORMATION – we publish newsletters, create and popularize information about graphic events from country and from all over the world.
